| Gran Canaria Overview |
| The differing climates of Gran Canaria have led to it being dubbed ‘miniature continent’. From snow-capped Pico de las Nieves, rising 1950 metres above sea level, to the wide, rolling dunes of Maspalomas, the island experiences extremes of temperature and changes in the weather. With crowded beaches by day and noisy discos by night, Las Palmas, the urban centre, is a somewhat ragamuffin city that does not try too hard to clean up its act.

Maspalomas – The best beaches in the Canary Islands can be found on the Maspalomas shores where the famous Playa del Ingles offers every kind of water sport.
Arucas – Twenty minutes drive from Las Palmas lays the enchanting mountain village of Arucas, where the magnificent Church of San Juan Bautista overlooks colourful gardens.
Teror – Built where the Virgin Mary appeared to conquistador Don Juan de Frias, high in the mountains is Teror, a delightful and typical Gran Canarian town.
Casa de Celon – Stand in the Casa de Celon and stand where Columbus reportedly spent several visits while preparing for his great voyages.
Playa de Las Canteras – This beach and sheltered lagoon is world famous, and for very good reason. It is possibly the single most compelling motivation to visit Las Palmas.
