| Mahon Overview |
Mahon is the capital town of the Balearic Island of Menorca. Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic’s and has an unspoilt coastline and lovely atmosphere. Mahon is situated in the far south of the island, on the coast, and is a very attractive destination for tourists.
Probably the biggest draw of Mahon are the excellent beaches that are all around the town. On top of this there is an excellent range of restaurants, bars and cafes and unlike many other tourist destinations some superb cultural attractions. |
| Mahon Essentials |
Minorca Art Gallery– Situated in the capital, Mahon, the Minorca art gallery has an excellent collection of works from the islands most important artists. The collection includes work from a variety of different styles and methods.
Maó Scientific, Artistic and Literary Centre – Art exhibitions, a natural history museum and a library are the reasons to visit this superb attraction. The library is prominent amongst scholars from around the world and as with the rest of the facility focuses on the Balearic Islands.
Golden Farm – This beautiful old mansion house overlooks the harbour in Mahon. Golden Farm was once occupied by Lord Nelson and is well worth a look.
Xoriguer Gin Distillery – One interesting attraction is the Xoriguer Gin Distillery where famed Minorcan gin is produced using an age-old process
Es Castell – Found in close proximity to Mahon is the delightful town of Es Castell. The town is quite lively and boasts many excellent restaurants and bars. Es Castell also has some beautiful caves and the church is fantastic. |

Procession of the Three Kings (5th January) – Held on Epiphany Eve, this fantastic procession is great fun for all the family.
Carnival (February) – Every Febuary is carnival time in Menorca with fancy dress processions throughout many towns of the island. |
