| Was in Palma from Apr 25th to May 10th.The whole island is senic and great to drive.never seen any radar traps and everyone drove pretty fast. Drivers are courteous and will move out of the left lane if faster vehicles approach. Much better drivers than in the USA. |

| I'm a bit of a night owl and this caused great frustration for be. Do you think I remembered to fill the tank during the daytime???? NEVER!!! And the damn petrol stations are closed after 9pm and only open at 7am!!!!! |
Palma Overview |
Palma is the capital of the Balearic Islands, and for the majority of tourist will be their port of entry to Majorca (Mallorca), as the island's international airport is found here. The gateway to one of Spain's most popular Islands, Palma is the commercial centre for Majorca and has undergone massive redevelopment over the last 20 years which has help reinvigorate the city centre with new shopping and restaurant areas. A short drive from Palma and you'll find some of the beaches and resorts which have made consolidated Majorca position as one of Spain's most popular destinations.

Palma Essentials |
Palma Cathedral - 500 years in the making, Palma Cathedral is a stunning gothic building with a surprisingly modern interior designed by Antoni Gaudi. Within the Cathedral there is also the Museu de la Catedral to visit filled with various ecclesiastical objects.
Palau de l'Almudaina - Directly opposite the Cathedrae, the Palau de l'Almudaina was originally built as a palace for the Moorish governors. The stunning interiors have recently undergone massive restoration, and make an interesting comparison to the interior design of Palma Cathedral.
Museu de Mallorca - An excellent place to learn about the history of the Island, the Museu de Mallorca has an extensive collection of local archaeological exhibits and artworks.
Badia de Palma (Bay of Palma) - A short drive from Palma, popular with locals and tourists alike. Badia de Palma is one of the best places to find the coast in close proximity to Palma city centre.
Serra de Tramuntana - Heading inland from Palma you'll find rugged hills of Serra de Tramuntana which boast some of Majorca's finest scenery. An excellent place for hiking. |

Palma Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Festa de l'Estendard - Commemorates the anniversary of the Christian conquest of the city by King Jaume 1 in 1229. Starting from the town hall, large processions culminate in a special mass at La Seu Cathedral.
Domingo del Angel (Angel Sunday) - Traditional celebration following Easter Sunday with a procession through Palma.
