| Although the entire world knows of Pampalona’s ‘Running of the Bulls’, it is sometimes forgotten that she city has other attractions, such as the massive citadel, Gothic cathedral and green parks. Named after Pompey the Great by the Romans, and capital of the Navarro province, Pampalona’s heritage is of Basque lineage, as they were the original settlers, well before Caesar and his gang raided the world. |

Gothic cathedral – The Gothic cathedral where Carlos III and Queen Leonor are entombed, and dates back to the 14th century was recently restored.
Iglesia de San Saturnino – For those who love old architecture and religious symbolism there is another Gothic church, dating to the 13th century situated near the city hall.
Citudadela – The impressive walls of the pentagonal Citudadela flummoxed Napoleon, and protected the city from invasion, but today peace reigns and concerts play in its park.
Parque de la Taconera – Dazzling peacocks strut their stuff, and gentle deer wander timidly amongst these peaceful gardens, while swans glide serenely by.
Museo de Navarro – This museum houses Roman mosaics from the 4th and 5th century, and exhibits paintings from the 14th to the 20th century.
