Situated in Galicia southwest of Spain, this city is one of Spain’s top fishing ports. Vigo has brilliant archaeological and artistic legacy and included here is the archaeological site Monte do Castro dating back to 2nd c BC and 3rd or 4th c AD as well as exquisite buildings in the city's "old quarter".

The Municipal Museum of Vigo - Exhibits include remains found in the city, in particular from the excavations at Monte del Castro; items relating to the War of Independence and a dazzling collection of 20th century Galician painting.
The Castle of Soutomaior - A few km outside Vigo you will find this medieval fortress and neo-gothic palace from the XII century. It has survived many bloody battles yet retained its original structure.
Santiago De Compostela – Only 100km away from Vigo is a monumental city and shrine dedicated to St James the Apostle, Spain’s patron saint. An historical and religious attraction that is both moving and beautiful.
Cíes Islands – This paradise has been declared a Natural Park and is only forty minutes away by ferry. 15,000 nesting pairs of birds live here and the surrounding sea is filled with seaweed and anemones attracting a rich variety of fish.
Bayona La Real - Explore this historic seaside village and enjoy a selection of tapas. Bayona’s Old Quarters has short, guided walks through the cobbled streets passing the cloistered Convent of the Dominicas, the Misericordia Chapel and Casa Lorenzo Correa. |
